Jahvid Best Injury sends running back to hospital (Video)

California running back Jahvid Best was injured in Saturday's game. The Jahvid Best injury occurred when Best was attempting to score a touchdown near the left side of the field and he tried to make it into the end zone. Best was undercut by the defender and at a height of around five feet in the air came down on the back of his head. Best scored the touchdown, but it was immediately obvious to everyone in the stadium that something was wrong on the field.

Early reports state that Jahvid Best has sustained a concussion after being removed from the field, and the best of all was that he has movement in all of his extremities. More tests are going to be done on Jahvid Best before he is released from the hospital, and doctors are going to make 100% sure that there isn't a greater extent to the injury he had on the field. The injury had been so bad that Best's helmet even came off in the collision, and just by looking at the photograph to the left you can see how high in the air Best was before he came down hard. There is also a video linked at the bottom (not the best of quality) that shows what happened to cause the injury.

While Best was on the ground after being hurt they removed his jersey and put him on an oxygen mask before removing him. Best was then taken to an emergency room right away for tests, and all necessary precautions were taken to prevent further injury. For a little background, Jahvid Best was already playing with the remnants of a slight concussion he suffered in a game last week against the Arizona State Sun Devils.

Jahvid Best came into the game against Oregon State with 838 total rushing yards and 11 touchdowns on the season. Last season Best rushed for 1,580 total yards to go along with 15 rushing touchdowns on the season. He is widely considered one of the best running backs in football, and easily takes the title as the best running back in the Pac-10. We all hope that Best has a speedy recovery, and that there are no lasting effects from this injury to his head and neck.

The injury definitely seemed to affect how California approached the remainder of the game, and they came up short to Oregon State 31-17. That drops the 20th ranked Bears to 6-3 overall, and could harm their chances at a great bowl game.

Iowa Vs. Northwestern (Video from 1945!)

Iowa vs. Northwestern didn't end like Iowa fans wanted. The Iowa vs. Northwestern game was supposed to be a stepping stone for the Iowa Hawkeyes to push their record to 10-0, but the Northwestern Wildcats had different ideas when they came to Iowa City. The biggest problem for the University of Iowa were all of the injuries that had continued to mount, and which just got even worse on Saturday when their starting quarterback went down with an injury. Not only did he get hurt, but he fumbled in the end zone on the play, giving Northwestern an early touchdown that Iowa would not be able to overcome on the day.

The Iowa vs. Northwestern game was very important for both teams, but for entirely different reasons. Iowa came into the game with a 9-0 overall record and a #4 ranking in the BCS standings. It meant that Iowa still had an outside chance of making the BCS championship game of college football on the year, and could possibly end the regular season with a 12-0 overall record. It was going to be a tough road ahead for Iowa even if they could beat Northwestern, because next week the Hawkeyes have to go to Ohio State and take on the Buckeyes in a big game for OSU.

Northwestern really needed the win on Saturday, because they wanted to push their record into bowl eligibility for the season. Being a team in the Big Ten with an eligible record is basically like stating that the team will get a bowl game, and everyone at Northwestern knew that when they came into Iowa City this weekend. It meant that both teams had a lot to play for on Saturday afternoon, and on paper it sure seemed like Iowa could come on top pretty easily. That's why they play the games though, because Iowa was already shorthanded at running back, and when the starting quarterback went down, it means that Iowa would have to end the game with a back-up calling all the plays.

LSU Vs Alabama (football game videos)

The #3 Alabama Crimson Tide face off against the #9 LSU Tigers and nothing less than a chance to play for the national title may be on the line. Although it isn't guaranteed that a Southeast Conference football team will play in the
Nnational championship, there is a very good chance that that could very well happen. And when the two suffocating defenses of Alabama and LSU meet in Tuscaloosa Saturday, expect a hardfought game, probably low-scoring, and which could possibly be decided by the football team that makes a crucial turnover and gives their opponent just enough of an advantage. The model of Saturday's game was most likely the football game played earlier this season between Florida and LSU, where the #1 Gators walked away with the victory, 13-3. Alabama will hope to emulate that feat.

Going into the game, if there is an advantage statistically, it is that Alabama is ranked 33rd in the nation in total offense while LSU is ranked at #100. Alabama has the 13th ranked rushing offense in the nation, whereas LSU sits at No. 69. That discrepancy could cost LSU the football game, if games were played out by statistical probability. But they are not and the Tigers know it.

The story will be in the defenses. Going up against Alabama's 13th ranked rushing offense is the No. 4 ranked Red Zone defense in the country. On the other side of possession, LSU's offense is facing the 10th ranked Red Zone defense and the 4th ranked defense in total defense. LSU's defense is ranked a respectable 15th nationally.

Don't expect much in the way of passing except to throw the other team off a bit. Alabama is ranked 93rd, LSU 96th in passing offense. Both teams have intercepted their opponents 11 times this season. And Alabama has sacked their opponents' quarterbacks 23 times going into the game. LSU has gotten to their opponents' quarterbacks 11 times. Both teams' defenses have recoverd 5 fumbles.

Elizabeth Lambert (soccer fight) of New Mexico women’s soccer team’s unsportsmanlike conduct

In the NCAA women’s soccer west conference semi-final game, Elizabeth Lambert of New Mexico behaves unprofessionally towards opposing BYU team players.

Physical contact is part of almost every soccer game but Lambert seems to hurt every player that is near her.  She went beyond the line when she pulled one of BYU player’s hair and snapping the players head in the process.

Maybe Lambert is just frustrated that her team did not scored even a single goal.
BYU wins the game 0-1 and advances to the finals.

Here’s the video of Elizabeth Lambert’s unsportsmanlike conduct:

Bob Griese Juan Pablo Montoya

Robert Allen Griese, another victim of slip of tongue! Juan Pablo Montoya is “Out eating a tortilla” remarks by Robert Allen Griese caused the ESPN commentator apologies and embarrassment. Robert (a.k.a. Bob Griese) made the remarks upon fellow commentator Chris Spielman’s query about Juan Pablo Montoya.

During the display of an ESPN graphic during Ohio State and Minnesota telecast on Saturday while five drivers were in the Chase for the Cup race to promote Sunday’s NASCAR race, Chris Spielman the Color commentator asked the whereabouts of Juan Pablo Montoya from his 64-year-old experienced campaigner Robert Allen Griese (also known and recognized as Bob Griese). All Chris could do was to shred his shoulders to hear the reply; Bob said “Montoya’s out eating a taco tortilla.”

The football analyst Bob Griese was forced to apologize twice for the abrupt remarks and comments just popped out of his mouth about the 34-year-old former Formula One and Cart driver Columbian Juan Pablo Montoya Roldán on Saturday. The occasion was the remake of “Fatal Attraction” by Steve Phillips and Bob Griese was accompanied by Chris Spielman when the slip of tongue against the number one and one of the best NASCAR drivers occurred.

An immediate statement from the ESPN followed the incident and Griese was heard saying,”I am extremely sorry for my comments during the ballgame earlier today.” Bob now plans to apologize again during the live telecast of college football programming by ESPN as he’s realized his action was an inappropriate one.

Both the men involved in the incident have a mark of their own. Robert Allen Griese is respected as a Pro Hall of Fame Football player and used to be with Miami Dolphins and as a quarterback; he led the Dolphins to a record three consecutive appearances at the ‘Super Bowl.’ The team managed to win on two occasions. Whereas Juan Pablo Montoya Roldán is the current driver of #42 Target Chevrolet Impala at Earnhardt Ganassi Racing in the Sprint Cup Series.

UConn Player Killed

Connecticut Huskies starting cornerback Jasper Howard died Sunday morning after an on-campus stabbing.

The Hartford Courant learned through UConn police that the incident occurred shortly after 12:30 a.m. near the student union in the center of campus. A fire alarm was pulled during a school-sponsored dance and an altercation followed outside the building in which two people were stabbed. Both were taken to Windham Community Memorial Hospital.

"All of us are saddened with the loss of our brother and teammate Jasper," said UConn head football coach Randy Edsall. "Jazz was a tremendous young man who had grown so much in his short time with us at UConn. He was starting to come into his own as both a player and a person. He will be sorely missed but we will have him in our memories.

An emergency alert on the university's web site stated that the perpetrator is still at large, and police are actively investigating the incident.

Howard, 20, played in UConn's 38-25 win over Louisville on Saturday.
